The movie television was wonderful and so
entertaining and won the heart of all spectators by its simple narration and
enticing performance of the actors in it. Television holds up the new
experiments and standard of Bangladeshi film industry. I personally loved the
simplicity of the movie and the way it handled a serious subject in a funny way
without hurting anyone’s emotions. The director Mostofa Sarwar Farooqui got
special appreciation from many international film festivals for the very unique
and interesting plot of the movie. I am sure that this film will take the
Bangladeshi movie to a new level.
Television took me for a rollercoaster ride full of fun , emotions and logic, it was the performance of the actors keeps the movie awesome. The main theme of the story ; bringing a television to a remote village full of its own traditions blocked round by water. The village chief doesn’t allow even a news paper in the village to spread without photo editing. He is all against the new technologies because he believes that the post modern inventions like television , mobile phone and internet will absolutely spoil the young generation and keeps them away from reading and there by the evil will get their hands on them.
The move shows the very fact that in one way or another people cant get away from being in touch with the technology. It also says there is pros and cons in everything and we should use the good intention of every technologies. The director beautifully conveys this aspects by showing the village chief is been cheated by visa agency people and he couldn’t go to Hajj. His only choice was to watch it on television which he hated most and he realized the importance of technologies and modern media.
The ideological differences between the young people and old people of the village was portrayed excellently. The triangular love story in the movie added more colors to the movie. The intervention of technology in the love affair of hero and heroine was shown in a really hilarious and wonderful way by the incline of situation humor.
The only thing I found negative was the cinematography. They could have done it better. Apart from this they handled the bold subject which has international acceptance in an easy simple and beautiful way. It is one of my personal favorite among the iffk films.
