Closed Curtain

Closed curtain was the first movie I had watched in the 18^th international film festival Kerala. It was my first film festival experience and it was also the first time which I was introduced to world films. I was surprised by the first shot of the movie which was a wide shot from a house in which the characters were entering and was coming closer and the shot lasted in a static position for more than two minutes. I was in a confused state throughout the movie that I didn’t understand what was happening in the story line and I did not got the character link as well. The interesting thing about the movie was it is not just a movie to watch and go; it will force us to think about it on our own point of view.
After watching the movie I couldn’t stop myself from reading more about the director of the movie Jafar Panahi and about the movie itself. Because I just wanted to know the whole sense and life of that movie. I also wanted to make sure that what I understood from the movie shouldn’t contradict from the real sense of meaning of the movie, or else I feel it difficult to get along with such intellectual film making.

I found myself right about the movie interpretation after reading about the Iranian movie. In the movie panahi portrays different characters within himself and he tries to convey the annoyance happening to the writer with in him all because of the protest and banning happened to him with in the country. The writer in the movie is the writer with in panahi himself and the dog with him symbolize his creation and creativity which the orthodox Muslim government tries to irradiate and tries to put a tie to his film career, so he always try to keep the dog away from the strangers.. The girl named Melika who seem to be a in throughout the movie is the image of protestant within the director. The entry of director as himself makes the movie more interesting , at the end of the movie all the director took with him was the writer with in him and his creativity and his works that means the dog while the Melika watching.

I was so happy that the first movie I watched was a very different and unique one and I understood the fact that there is nothing in the world which can held a creative person from expressing his ideas. It was really worth watching that movie and I am looking forward to watch more Panahi movies.

ചില പെണ്ണുങ്ങള്‍ക്ക്‌ പക കൂടുതല്‍ ആണ് നിലയ്ക്കാത്ത ഒരു അഗ്നിപര്‍വതം പോലെ അത് പുകഞ്ഞുകൊണ്ടേ ഇരിക്കും. സ്വന്തം കുഞ്ഞിനേക്കാള്‍ സ്നേഹിക്കുകയും താലോലികുകയും ചെയ്യും. സ്വന്തം മാനതെക്കാലും വില കൽപ്പിക്കും , ചിതയിലും അത് പുകഞ്ഞുകൊണ്ടേയിരിക്കും അത്മവിനെക്കള്‍ ഉയരത്തില്‍ , അവളതു കണ്ടു രസിക്കും ശത്രുവിന്റെ ചിത. 

അയാള്‍ നന്നായി മദ്യപിച്ചിരുന്നു 
അവിടത്തെ പുകച്ചുരുലുകല്ക് ഇടയില്‍കൂടി എന്നെ മാത്രം നോക്കി നടന്നു വന്നു
തീ തരുമോ ? ഞാന്‍ തീപെട്ടി കൊടുത്തു , നിന്‍റെ ചുണ്ടിലെരിയുന്ന തീയാണ് ഞാന്‍ ചോദിച്ചത് 
എനിക്കത് ഇഷ്ടമല്ല, ഞാന്‍ പറഞ്ഞു , (സിഗരറ്റ് പങ്കിടുന്നത് എനിക്ക് ഇഷ്ടമല്ല)
അയാള്‍ ഒരു ഭ്രാന്തനെ പോലെ എന്നോട് പറഞ്ഞു , നിന്‍റെ ചുണ്ടിലെരിയുന്നതിനെക്കാള്‍ തീ എന്‍റെ നെഞ്ചില്‍ ഉണ്ട് എന്ന് 
നിങ്ങള്‍ പദ്മരാജനെ പോലെ സംസാരിക്കരുത് , ഞാന്‍ പരിഹാസത്തോടെ പറഞ്ഞു ,
ഒരു പുകവലിക്കാരന്റെ മനസ്സ് അറിയുന്നത് കൊണ്ട് എന്‍റെ കയ്യിലെ അവസാനത്തെ സിഗരറ്റ് അയാള്‍ക് കൊടുത്തു, 
അയാള്‍ തുകല്‍ സഞ്ചിയില്‍ നിന്ന് ഒരു പുസ്തകം എനിക്ക് തന്നു ,

Existence of love

The highest state of love is not being in a relationship at all. It is simply the state of your being. It is simply how pure your heart could be. It is simply how beautiful you inner self are. It is simply being a beautiful you. It is simply the state of peaceful being. Just as trees are green; a lover is loving. They are not green for a particular person, it is not that when you come it becomes green. A flower will always spreads it fragrance whether anybody comes or not, whether anybody appreciate it or not. The flower does not start releasing its fragrance when it sees that a great poet is coming by , it does not close itself to a dull person either.The flower goes on spreading fragrance. It is a state of being , not a relationship.

You could also be in a relationship of love , but to make it beautiful and ever lasting, there should be love and freedom , two wonderful things to get together, but if you manage to get it together, you will be happier like heaven. In a very simple sense; it is just 'love' and 'freedom' but in hard sense ; it is just 'acceptance and 'trust' .
